Rooted in tradition, made for today.
Himalayan Roots began with a simple desire — to preserve the recipes and flavours that have been part of our homes for as long as we can remember.
Growing up in the hills, food was never just sustenance. It was the smell of a pickle jar being opened at the table, the particular warmth of a meal made from a recipe passed down quietly over the years. These were flavours that felt like home.
As life moved faster and kitchens grew busier, we noticed that many of these recipes were quietly disappearing — not because people had stopped loving them, but because fewer people had the time, the knowledge or the ingredients to make them.
That is where Himalayan Roots began.
What we believe
We believe that good food does not need to be complicated. It needs to be honest. Made with care. Prepared the way it has always been prepared — slowly, attentively and with respect for the ingredients.
We prepare our products in small batches. Not because it is a marketing phrase, but because it is the only way we know how to do it properly. Small batches allow us to pay attention. To taste. To adjust. To ensure that every jar that leaves our hands is something we are genuinely proud of.
Our ingredients
We are thoughtful about what goes into our products. We look for ingredients that carry character — raw mangoes with the right tartness, hill garlic with its distinctive pungency, bamboo shoots that are tender and fresh, lemons that are bright and fragrant.
We do not make claims we cannot stand behind. What we can say is that we choose our ingredients with care, and that care shows in the flavour. Learn more about our ingredients.
Where we are going
Himalayan Roots began with pickles, but our vision is broader. The Himalayan region has a rich culinary heritage — spices, chutneys, preserves, honeys, grains, teas and more — and we intend to explore it thoughtfully, one product at a time.
We are not in a hurry. We would rather do fewer things well than many things carelessly.
Thank you
If you have found your way to Himalayan Roots, thank you. Every order, every message and every jar opened at a table somewhere means a great deal to us.
We hope our food finds a place in your home the way these flavours have always had a place in ours.
